A picture chronicle of my trip to San Severino Marche and Gualdo Tadino Italy from 11May through 25 May 1999 .

Around the sixth century BC San Severnio Marches was inhabited by a race of people called Picen. Later it was conquered by the Romans and the area was named Septempeda by the Romans around 550 AD. The area was invaded and destroyed by the Goth’s. The town was renamed after the Saint and former pastor of the present day  named church Duomo Vecchio.

The river Potenza . My grandmother and grandfather always talked about this river. After seeing it, I was surprised how small it was. I envisioned from their stories it was a very large river.

Roman period sign of the town discovered during an excavation. Now locted in  Archaeology Moretti Museum in S.S. Marche.

On the right is the hotel Due Torre. It is located inside the medevile stone wall at just below the highest point inside that wall.

The wall was built by the Romans.
